African Leadership Magazine (ALM) announces the winners of the 14th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2024. Once again, it shows that hard work and dedication pays off. The winners were selected through online voting and a thorough review by the ALM editorial team, based on their outstanding achievements and contributions over the past year and beyond. Congratulations to all our winners!
Special congratulations to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cape Verde, Olav Correia, for being named the winner in this category: African Finance Minister of the Year, at the 14th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2024.
Correia is a graduate economist with experience in both the private and public sectors. He has served as Director-General of the National Treasury and Secretary to the Minister of State for Finance. From 1999 to 2004, he was Governor of the Central Bank of Cape Verde. In April 2022, Olavo Correia was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), succeeding Benin’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni.1 He will also become a member of the World Bank’s Board of Directors in 2023. Although he is a man of enormous responsibility and operates at the highest levels of international politics, he has no problem talking to people and discussing issues that affect their daily lives. Olavo Correia is a kind and educated man. We wish him all the best in his work.
Dr Ken Giami, Editor of African Leadership Magazine, says: “The winners are shaping a better future for Africa through their leadership in critical sectors of the African economy and demonstrate the enormous potential of our business community.
All winners will be presented with their trophies at the ABLA Awards Ceremony to be held at the House of Lords in London on 17-18 July 2024.
