A report by Cape Verde’s public television network, TCV, titled “Entrepreneur Mónica Duarte Seeks Greater Dynamism in Business Relations Between Cape Verde and the Czech Republic”, not only informs about the investment projects created by the president of our Chamber, but also openly describes the administrative processes that may slow down some investments.
One Czech proverb says: “He who gives quickly, gives twice.” In other words, money has value over time. Creating a project, purchasing suitable land, and reclaiming it, financing architectural studies and projects, or securing subcontractors are all steps in project preparation. All these processes need to be managed and harmonised while working with local authorities, respecting local needs. Securing funding for the entire project is a critical requirement. Therefore, flexible cooperation with the relevant local authorities is key. Investors’ finances are available at a precisely determined time, for a clearly defined period, so the appropriateness of deadlines for each phase of the project, including administrative processes, is very important. Conversely, extending deadlines can increase the cost of the investment.
All the projects being implemented by the founder of the Czech-Cape Verde Chamber and president of DuarGema Investment, Mónica Sofia Duarte, represent development in infrastructure, tourism, and commerce in Cape Verde. They have a direct impact on the future of Cape Verdean society and the quality of life of Cape Verdeans. They are a prerequisite for new job opportunities, increased demand for products and services, and a higher standard of living for the Cape Verdean people.
In the report, Mónica Sofia Duarte mentions the example of the DUARGEMA FIVE STAR LIVING project, which is being prepared on the island of Fogo. However, the municipality of São Filipe has not been able to process the related administrative tasks within the expected timeframe. It is clear that the officials in São Filipe are well aware of the benefits the project brings to the island, so we believe that the necessary administrative work will be completed soon.
Thanks to the activities of DuarGema Investment, the Czech Republic is becoming a hub for investment in Cape Verde’s development, linking the investment potential of Czech and foreign investors.
