The second-largest hotel group in Spain and the 30th largest in the world in terms of number of rooms now has plans to invest more than 80 million euros in the acquisition, repositioning and development of new hotels in the country.
“Cape Verde is a strategic country for the company’s expansion due to its great tourism potential. Over the next few years, we intend to invest more than 80 million euros in the acquisition and repositioning of several hotels, as well as in the construction of new projects, thus contributing to the economic and social development of the archipelago,” says Pilar Parejo, regional director of the Barceló Hotel Group in Cape Verde and Madeira, quoted by Ambitur.
The Barceló Hotel Group, which was named the best hotel company in the world in 2023 in the last World Travel Awards, plans to open a second hotel on the island of Boa Vista by the end of the year.
“By the end of the year, the hotel chain plans to incorporate into its network a second hotel on the island of Boa Vista – formerly known as the Marine Club Beach Resort – in the five-star category with 160 rooms, which will operate under the Barceló Hotels & Resorts brand,” the company said in a statement.
Plans are also underway to build a new hotel project on the island of Sal, located in the Pontão area in the municipality of Santa Maria, which will be a five-star adults-only resort with 260 rooms.
